What's your favorite school subject and why?

My favorite school subject would have to be either band or chorus, because music is a big part of my life and you can meet a lot of new friends through music.

List some of your activities -- both school and outside of school.

Some activities that I'm involved in are band, chorus, jazz band, show choir, speech, theatre, Webster City Community Theatre board, piano lessons, voice lessons, violin lessons, Lynx Leaders, the Webster City Action Team, IowaSLI, Student Council, Student Senate, Church, and 4-H.

How do you find time to be involved in so many things?

With as much as I'm involved in, it can sometimes be difficult to find the time. I'm at school at 7am everyday for various activities, and I most of the time I have rehearsals and meetings every evening. You have to give up most of your free time, but it's so worth it!

Tell me what benefits you get from being involved in community activities.

Everything that I'm involved in benefits me so much! I've gained so many great skills through activities that I'm involved in, such as communication skills, responsibility, etc. My schedule can be quite hectic, but the benefits I've gained make it worthwhile!

Is there anything you aren't already doing that you would like to? Why?

I'm sure there are, but unfortunately I don't know if my schedule would allow me to add much else!

What would you tell other teens about getting involved in their communities?

Do it. Through everything I'm involved in, I've gained so many valuable friendships, life skills, and incredible opportunities that I will treasure forever.

What are your future plans: College, career, etc.

After high school, I plan on attending college and majoring in music education.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In ten years, I see myself having a successful career doing what I love and being surrounded by people that I love.

Who's been your most inspirational teacher? Why?

My most inspirational teacher would have to be Mr. Barner. Whether it be through music or student voice, he always encourages me in everything I do and challenges me to think outside the box. I've learned so many great lessons from him both in and outside of the classroom.
